My pulsar 220 has a leaky sidewall tubeless tyre? Is it safe to use it with a tube?

my bikes front tubeless tyre sidewall has a leak. It had a few punctures on the main body too which had been repaired. is it because of a dented alloy wheel? the tyre repair guy has put a tube in the tyre and said that its the only solution...is it a safe bet? i am worried about the safety aspect as i drive fast...
